Lower League Round-up
The third eleven won their second league game of the season and, after an indifferent, start are now up to 6th in the table. On a very windy day life was difficult on the second pitch but decent scores from Ashan Abeywickrema (43) and skipper Rob Carter (57) saw Hertford to a useful 170-8 off their 53 overs. Opening with Simon Knott and Kev Roberts, two Old Albanian wickets were soon accounted for. Scott and Hassan offered some resistance but no-one else got to double figures as Roberts, with 8-36 – the best analysis of the year so far – spun them out for 116 and a 56 run victory.
The fourth eleven continued their winning ways and Jamie Lawrance’s team are now in a very handy second place in division 10. A miserly spell of 3-16 off 19 overs from Chris Thompson restricted North Mymms 3rd XI to just 103-7 off 53 overs. Though Hertford lost a couple of early wickets, brothers George and Sam Pavey and Pete Amos ensured that it would be a comfortable 5-wicket win with overs to spare.
The fifth eleven lost another fixture to the rain, the fourth this season, and are consequently in a mid-table position in division 13.
