As a club Vice President, Charlie has been a regular visitor to Balls Park, more than ever in the last few seasons. He was keen for the club to grow and develop, and was one of the key supporters of the Club Coach role, as well as other club developments.

At 94, Charlie had a long life and right to the end had a hugely positive energy around everything he did. A keen sportsman, he played rugby for Chingford RFC and then Hertford RFC into his mid 60’s, he was proud to have been President of both clubs and he was the first Chairman of the Hale Club.

For many years he was involved in managing the Junior Hertfordshire Cricket teams, and the development of a number of past and current Hertford players (including my sons) have benefited from his support and advice over the years.

Our most recent memory of Charlie is his marriage to Bev. After losing his first wife Judith several years ago, Charlie found happiness with Bev and anybody who saw them together at the club knows how strong their bond was. We are only sorry they did not have more time to enjoy together.
